Search engine optimisation is a continuous process that keeps
you busy with changing and updating keywords in your content.

There are few places on your web site that you shouldn’t forget
to keep your keywords.

1. Title of the page:

Keep one different keyword phrase on each page of your web site.
Do a little search on wordtracker.com web site and get your
keywords.

Don’t fight for most general keywords which has lot of competition.
Try to make that keyword as a phrase. This way your web page survives in
competition.

Example: autoresponder is a general keyword. Use it as a phrase
‘php autoresponder’

2. First paragraph of the content:

Make it in ‘h1′ header tags. Use a keyword phrase. I either keep same
phrase that I put in the title or little variant of the same phrase.

This way, you can introduce two variants of one keyword phrase. Singular
and plural in keywords are taken as same by search engines.

3. Content of the web page:

You can not keep long titles as search engines only displays first
60 - 65 characters. But you can keep as much content as you like
on your web pages. (But before you optimise the page for search engine,
optimise it for your web site visitor)

If you have a long sales page, divide it in to two or three parts
and keep keyword phrases in to the content.

4. Links to other pages:

Like in the menubar or from the content to other pages. Stop using
click here, more info links. Instead use a keyword. Example:
‘Search engine optimisation tip’ instead of ‘More info’.

5. Keyword metatags:

Still many search engines use these tags though the value of these
metatags are going down every day. People tend to keep 50 or more
keywords here. But surely I don’t see any use of it. Just make sure keep
keywords or phrases in there for some search engines that still value these
metatags.

Tip before ending the article:

Don’t overdo keyword optimisation.
Don’t keep many keywords on one page.
Try to keep content on your site targeting one or two keywords on each page.
