In order to increase the possibility of profit, many online business venture utilizes the techniques of Internet marketing to increase the accessibility of their site to the online public; thus, increasing their online traffic.

Practically, the main method of Internet marketing strategy is through the use of search engine optimisation (SEO); and those who have tirelessly followed its precepts gave evidence to the improvement of their venture.

Search Engines And SEO

In fact, search engine is utilized by Web surfer to look for information on the World Wide Web, and has ever been, thus, when it was first introduced. Information look-up was made possible through the use of keywords, and looking for specific matches on Web sites registered on the World Wide Web.

When a match is found within the context of the site, it will be placed and listed on search engine results, depending on its accuracy and overall page ranking. For many businesses online, targeting the first page of search engine results is practically one of their main goals in increasing site traffic — let’s face it, Web surfer would always use the results on the first page, and only pay passing interest on others.

To optimise your site for search engine is the main concept of SEO; and to pull it off, you need to utilize keyword optimisation on your site. By placing these business-oriented keywords in areas where search engines look for a specific match, you can greatly increase your search engine coverage to further improve your business.

Implementing SEO

The first step of SEO and keyword optimisation is to come up with a set of keywords or “keyphrase” that will best describe the content of your site. You need to come up with different variation so that you can practically maximize the possibility of which keywords an individual will use to access specific kinds of information — especially the ones that your Web site caters.

Next, you have to place these keywords in specific areas of your site. Note, however, that this method requires some basic knowledge in HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) to successfully pull it off; or you can commission someone to do it for you.

First, you need to come up with a site address (domain name) that will contain at least one or two of the keywords that you came up with. Then you need to place these keywords on the title and site description — which requires you to tamper with the HTML coding of your Web document, since these two are found under the header tag.

The body of your site should contain these keywords; specifically on the content and links found in its context. You need to assimilate these keywords without compromising the overall content of your site.

One note of advice, however, is to avoid spamming keywords, especially on the site description. If search engines detect a large amount of keywords in your site, your domain will be blacklisted, and at most banned from its overall listings.
